La vérité, son pouvoir et sa voie
Introduction
Ce livre est une réécriture du Tao-Te-King dans une langue moderne. Le terme « Tao », qui signifie « La Voie » dans le chinois ancien de Lao-Tseu, a été remplacé par les mots « vérité » et « La Voie ».
Dans le Tao-Te-King original, le mot « Tao » revêt deux significations : le chemin et le but. Le but désigne le Tout, l’Unité, créatrice du ciel et de la terre. Pour certains, il s’agit du « Royaume » et de son roi : « Dieu ».
Le chemin, quant à lui, représente « La Voie », c’est-à-dire la pratique spirituelle. Selon les traditions, on peut l’appeler sadhana, Dhamma, Dharma ou encore agya.
Le mot sanskrit « sadhana » signifie « ce qu’il faut faire ». Il désigne une voie spirituelle, ou mārga, ainsi que l’ensemble des pratiques et recommandations qui la soutiennent, y compris les commandements.
Le terme hindi « agya » signifie « commandements ». Il correspond à la sadhana de La Voie, incluant les pratiques du yoga originel et ses « angas », c’est-à-dire les recommandations morales destinées à faciliter l’Observance des disciples.
Le mot pâli « Dhamma » désigne la sadhana du Bouddha. En sanskrit, il devient « Dharma ». Le Bouddha a enrichi les recommandations des autres voies spirituelles en y ajoutant deux éléments : le buddha, ou l’éveillé, qui est le maître de cette voie, et la communauté des disciples et des moines.
Pour écrire ce livre, nous sommes partis d’une retraduction soignée et fidèle du Tao-Te-King classique. À partir de cette base, une réécriture légère a été réalisée, notamment en remplaçant le mot « Tao » par « vérité » ou « La Voie » et la syntaxe, pour la moderniser afin de faciliter la lecture sans changer le propos.
Cette approche permet de distinguer clairement les deux sens : le chemin, c’est-à-dire la pratique et l’Observance, et le but, à savoir le Royaume, le Tout, l’Unité. Les amateurs de l’œuvre originale apprécieront la fidélité de cette réécriture à l’esprit et à l’intention de Lao-Tseu. Ils devront toutefois accepter la liberté éditoriale prise en remplaçant le mot « Tao ». Bonne lecture et forgez-vous votre propre opinion.

Introduction
This book is a modern rewriting of the Tao-Te-King. The term “Tao,” meaning “The Path” in the ancient Chinese spoken by Lao-Tzu, has been replaced with the words “truth” and “The Path.”
In the original Tao-Te-King, the word “Tao” carries two meanings: the way and the goal. The goal refers to the Whole, the Unity, the creator of heaven and earth. For some, it is the “Kingdom” and its king: “God.”
The way, on the other hand, represents “The Path,” that is, the spiritual practice. Depending on the tradition, it may be called sadhana, Dhamma, Dharma, or agya.
The Sanskrit word “sadhana” means “what must be done.” It refers to a spiritual path, or mārga, as well as the set of practices and recommendations that support it, including commandments.
The Hindi term “agya” means “commandments.” It corresponds to the sadhana of The Path, encompassing the practices of original yoga and its “angas,” or moral recommendations, designed to facilitate the Observance of disciples.
The Pali word “Dhamma” refers to the sadhana of the Buddha. In Sanskrit, it becomes “Dharma.” The Buddha enriched the recommendations of other spiritual paths by adding two elements: the buddha, or the awakened, who is the master of this path, and the community of disciples and monks.
To create this book, we started with a careful and faithful retranslation of the classic Tao-Te-King. From this foundation, a light rewriting was done, notably replacing “Tao” with “truth” or “The Path” and updating the syntax to make it more modern and accessible without altering the original meaning.
This approach clearly distinguishes the two meanings: the way, meaning the practice and Observance, and the goal, namely the Kingdom, the Whole, the Unity. Fans of the original work will appreciate the fidelity of this rewriting to Lao-Tzu’s spirit and intent. However, they will need to accept the editorial liberty taken in replacing the word “Tao.”Happy reading, and form your own opinion.
